Annapurna Base Camp Trek is considered the second most popular trek in Nepalese highlands after the Everest Base Camp Trek. Nestled amidst the gigantic Annapurna Massifs in western Nepal, Annapurna Base Camp Trek provides an amazing opportunity to experience rural life of Kaski district and gaze at the enigmatic beauty of the Himalayan mountains of the west. This trek traverses through small settlements along the trails that are mainly inhabited by Gurung and Magar people of the region. As most of the Himalayan treks that follows rivers to its origin , Annapurna Base Camp trek follows through the river basin of Modi Khola river until it reaches the river’s glacial origin at Annapurna Base Camp. The trail pierces through Annapurna Conservation Area Project ( ACAP) located in the northern vicinity of the city of Pokhara. http://Annapurna base camp

The term “Annapurna” is referred to powerful Hindu goddesses of food and rationing also known as incarnation of goddess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva. Nepalese regards mountains as form of god and goddesses as they worship all forms of natural elements: Rock, Soil, Heat and Air. Annapurna Sanctuary is an arcadia for nature lovers. This region is filled with natural wonders that is sure to suffice the need of any trekkers. From high mountain to deep gorges to lush forests to untamed animals, Annapurna Base Camp Trek provides for your adventure needs.

Your trek to the base of Mt. Annapurna begins from the submissive city of Pokhara. It heads westward through Pokhara-Muktinath highway for about 2 hrs until you reach Nayapul. Nayapul is crossroad which separates the path for Upper Mustang Trek, Poonhill Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The road after Nayapul is gravelled and caliche topped with lots of bumps and potholes covering a distance of 8 kms before you reach Jhinu. Jhinu is village which sits atop small hill with tropical vegetation. This will the starting point of your trek. We take a steep ascend from Jhinu to reach Chomrong, a beautiful village that overlook Annapurna South(7219m / 23684 ft). Chomrong is a hotspot and bustling village with dense settlement of Magars and Gurungs. The trail then descends from Chomrong to cross Chomrong River and starts to ascend through Rhododendron and bamboo forests. You traverse through rocky trail via Dovan, Himalaya, Deurali to reach Machhapuchre Base Camp (MBC). As you elevate more, the mountains magnify closer to your gaze. MBC is stationed right at the northern base of the famous Mt.Fishtail. There are very few teahouses in this stop and your journey heads further towards Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). The trail from MBC to ABC follows through glacial moraines and glacial rivers flowing down to conflux with Modi Khola.

The Annapurna massifs are outwards bordered mountains creating a bowl shaped valley in between. Mt.Annapurna South (7219m), Macchapuchre (6993m) , Mt.Himchuli (6441m), Mt. Gandarva Chuli (6248m), Annapurna I (8091m) and Flute Peak (6501m) borders a picturesque valley in between them. Annapurna Base Camp sits right on top of this valley on the lap of might Mt. Annapurna I. ABC is pervaded with trekkers from all across the world during Autumn(Sept- Nov) and Spring (March- May). ABC is one of the best vantage point to gaze at these massifs and bestows the trekkers with an amazing view of the surrounding mountains.
